The TPIC6C596D from Texas Instruments is a monolithic, high-voltage, high-current power logic 8-bit shift register designed for use in systems that require relatively high load power. The device contains an 8-bit serial-in, parallel-out shift register that feeds an 8-bit D-type storage register. Data transfers through the shift register on the rising edge of the serial shift clock (SRCK). Data is transferred from the shift register to the storage register on the rising edge of the register clock (RCK). The storage register outputs are connected to eight DMOS transistors that can sink up to 500 mA per channel. The DMOS transistors feature open-drain outputs with a maximum drain-to-source voltage of 50 V. The device also includes a serial output (SEROUT) for cascading multiple devices. The TPIC6C596D is available in a 16-pin SOIC package and operates over a junction temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
